National Identity Cards (Amendment) Act, 2022

The Act amended the National Identity Cards Act, 2011.

Data protection Act

This Act provides for data protection measures, and among other things, establishes a Data Protection Authority, provides for their functions, creates a technology-driven business environment and encourages technological development and the lawful use of technology and provides for investigation and collection of evidence of cybercrime and unauthorised data collection and breaches.

Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority Act

This Act establishes the Pharmacy and Medicines Regulatory Authority; provides for the functions and powers of the Authority; and provides for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

HIV and AIDS (Prevention and Management) Act

This Act makes provision for the prevention and management of HIV and AIDS; provides for the rights and obligations of persons living with HIV or affected by HIV and AIDS; provides for the establishment of the National AIDS Commission; and provides for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

Public health Act

This Act provides for public health, the conditions for improvement of the health and quality of life and the health care for all people in Zimbabwe, the rights, duties, powers and functions of all parties in the public health system, and the measures for administration of public health.

The document provides the 7th version of the essential medicines list and standard treatment guidelines for Zimbabwe.

Insurance Act 2014

The Act makes provision regarding the Insurance sector, with the aim of consolidation, administration, supervision, regulation, control, protection and development of insurance business, and for incidental matters.

Gender Equality Act

This Act promotes gender equality, equal integration, influence, empowerment, dignity and opportunities, for men and women in all functions of society, prohibits and provides redress for sex discrimination, harmful practices and sexual harassment, provides for public awareness on the promotion of gender equality, and provides for connected matters.

Constitution

This Act repeals and substitutes the Constitution of Zimbabwe. The new Constitution, provided in the schedule of the Act, includes 345 articles addressing a wide array of issues including, among others, founding provisions, national objectives, citizenship, declaration of rights, the executive, the legislature, the judiciary and the courts, principles of public administration, civil service and security services, local authorities, corruption etc. (non-exhaustive list).

Public Private Partnership Act

This Act provides for partnerships between the public sector and private sector for the supply of infrastructure and delivery of services as means of contributing towards sustaining economic growth, social development and infrastructure development; provides for the development and implementation of public-private partnership arrangements in Malawi for the delivery of infrastructure and services; provides for the establishment of the Public Private Partnership Commission; provides for private sector participation in state-owned enterprises, commercial entities and commercial assets, and provides for matters connected with or incidental to the foregoing.

Children's Protection and Welfare Act 2011

This act has the aim to consolidate and reform the laws relating to the protection and welfare of children and to provide for incidental matters. The Act covers aspects such as the rights of a child and the responsibilities of its parents; the child in need of care and protection; the offences to health and welfare of children; the conditions to take a child into care and for adoption; trafficking of children; child rehabilitation and conflict with criminal law; police powers and duties regarding children and legislation regarding minor’s criminal law.

National Identity Cards Act 2011

The Act mandates the establishment of a National Identity Register, the issuance of national identity cards to persons whose are included in the national identity register and for related matters.

Data Protection Act 2011 (Act No 5 of 2012)

The Act establishes the Data Protection Commission, provide for principles for regulation of processing of personal information in order to protect and reconcile the fundamental and competing values of personal information privacy under this Act and sector-specific legislation and other related matters.

National Registration Act

This Act provides for the registration of persons and registration of births, marriages and deaths of persons and provides for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

The policy establishes the national list of essential medicines and treatment guidelines in Lesotho.

Consumer Protection Act

This Act protects the rights of consumers, addresses the interests and needs of consumers, establishes a Consumer Protection Council, provides an effective redress mechanism for consumer claims and provides for other matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

These regulations provide for tobacco control measures including tobacco bans, health warnings, advertising restrictions etc.

Health Professions Act

This Act covers a broad array of issues pertaining to health and care profession and health facilities. It notably establishes a Health Professions Authority of Zimbabwe, a Medical and Dental Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe, an Allied Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe, a Natural Therapists Council of Zimbabwe, a Nurses Council of Zimbabwe, a Pharmacists Council of Zimbabwe, a Medical Laboratory and Clinical Scientists Council of Zimbabwe, an Environmental Health Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe and a Medical Rehabilitation Practitioners Council of Zimbabwe. It further provides for the composition and functions of the Authority and those councils, for the registration of persons in health professions and the issue of practising certificates to registered persons; the exercise of disciplinary powers in relation to registered persons and for the registration and control of health institutions and the regulation of services provided.
