Medicines and related substances Act

This Act provides for the registration, regulation of the sale, distribution, importation, exportation, manufacture and dispensing of medicines and related substances, and matters incidental thereto.

The National Health Quality Standards - "Health Care Organizational Management" provide comprehensive guidelines for managing healthcare organizations in Botswana, covering areas such as governance, resource management, leadership, quality improvement, and compliance with regulatory standards to ensure effective and efficient delivery of healthcare services.

The "National Health Quality Standards - Diagnostic, Care, and Treatment Support Services" establish guidelines and standards for the provision of diagnostic services, patient care, and treatment support in Botswana.

Essential drug list

These guidelines establish an Essential Drug List of Botswana of 2012 and provide the requirements regarding the levels of availability across health care providers.

The law regulates the management and control of HIV/AIDS in the Republic of Guinea.

The Decree governs, among other aspects, the functions, competencies, working conditions, and remuneration of professionals in charge of promotion, prevention, and care activities in the public sector.

Health professions Act

This Act regulates and controls the practice of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and allied health professions, and provides for matters connected and associated therewith.

Code de la Santé Publique

The Code provides rules regarding different rears of public health as the prevention and control of communicable diseases; sanitation and housing; and food and water protection among other aspects.

The Decree establishes the Code of Medical Ethics. The Code is applicable to any Doctors registered with the Medical Register, any performing a professional act, as well as to students performing a replacement or assisting a physician in the case provided for in article 84 of Code.

This Decree implements the Social Security Code.

The law establishes the general conditions for implementing the principles governing Social Security, with the aim of providing salaried workers and their families with protection against the economic and social distress.

National Registration Act

This Act provides provisions on the registration of persons resident in Botswana and provides for matters incidental thereto.

Births and Deaths Registration Act

This Act consolidates and amends the law relating to the registration of births and deaths in Botswana.

The Statistics Act

The Statistics Act establishes a body corporate to be known as Statistics Botswana; requires that official statistics be produced by means of a process that is guided by the National Statistical System; and provides principles for the production and dissemination of official statistics and for matters incidental thereto.

Emergency Powers Act

This Act empowers the President of Botswana to make emergency regulations whenever an emergency proclamation is in force. It also specifies the matters which may be provided for in emergency regulations; provides the duration of emergency regulations, and provides for the matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

Constitution

The Constitution of Botswana was first adopted in 1966 and reviewed in 2006. It consists of 127 articles that are grouped into 9 chapters. The articles of the Constitution address a large number of issues such as the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms, citizenship rights, the fundamental principles of the state and institutional arrangements.
