The Health Laboratory Technologists Registration Act

This Act provides for the Registration of Health Laboratory Technologists and provides for related matters.

The Private Health Laboratories Regulation Act

The Act regulates the registration and management of private health laboratories managed by approved persons and in respect of private health laboratory services to be rendered by private health laboratories, and related matters.

Constitution

The Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania was adopted in 1977 and amended in 2005. The Constitution is the supreme law of the country and establishes the state principles, regulates the separation of powers, establishes key government structures and their mandates, establishes rights, etc. The Constitution consists of 152 articles that are organized into ten chapters that are supplemented by two schedules.

The decree creates a technical-administrative division known as a health district for towns, departments, arrondissements and communes. The Health District is the local level for the design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of health policy.

The Drugs and Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Drugs Act

This Act consolidates the law relating to narcotic drugs, makes provision for the control and regulation of operations relating to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances; provides for the forfeiture of property derived from or used in illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances; provides for the prevention of illicit traffic in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and implements the provisions of the International Convention on Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances.

The order M°154/MSP/CAB of 29 December 1994 provides the structure and mandate for the Departmental Directorate for Health ("Direction Departementale de la Santé"); this directorate represents the Ministry of Public Health at the level of the department or the urban community and participates in the elaboration, implementation and evaluation of the National Health policy ( providing the competence of the Department Direction for Health). The subdivisions of this directorate include an Executive Secretariat; an Administrative, Financial and Personnel Management Department; a Family Health Service; a Programming and Health Information Department; a Health Education, Hygiene and Sanitation Department; a Health Education, Hygiene and Sanitation Department; a Pharmacy and Laboratory Department.

The Medical Stores Department Act

This Act establishes the Medical Stores Department for the procurement, storage and distribution of medical supplies and provides for other matters connected or incidental to the establishment and management of the department.

The law determines which individuals have Nigerien nationality at birth as their nationality of origin. Nigerien nationality is acquired or lost, after birth, by the effect of the present legislation or by decision of the public authority taken under the conditions laid down in this law.

The Food (Control of Quality) Act

This Act repeals the provisions of the Food and Drugs Ordinance which relates to food; repeals the Meat Hygiene Ordinance, and provides for the more efficient control of the food industry.

The Private Hospitals (Regulation) Act

This Act makes provision to restrict the management of private hospitals to approved organizations, to control fees and other charges payable in respect of medical treatment and other services rendered by private hospitals, to regulate scales of emoluments payable to medical practitioners employed at private hospitals, and to make provisions connected with those matters.

The Prisons Act

This Act consolidates and amends the Law relating to Prisons, and provides for the Organization, Discipline, Powers and Duties pf Prison Officers, and for matters incidental thereto and connected therewith.

This law establishes an organization for the general litigation of social security matters, to settle disputes arising from the application of social security legislation and regulations, which by their nature do not fall within the scope of any other litigation.

The Tsetse Control Act

This Act makes better provision for the control and prevention of the spread of the tsetse flies; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

The Births and Deaths Registration Act

This Act makes provisions for the registration of births and deaths and for the issue by medical practitioners of certificates of the cause of death.
