Health Legislation

The law authorized the extension of the state of health emergency in 2021.

The law creates a public administrative establishment, called the "Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire", under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. The mission of the Agence is to implement the strategic orientations of the Ministry of Health in the field of health safety.

The Code provides rules regarding different rears of public health as the prevention and control of communicable diseases; sanitation and housing; and food and water protection among other aspects.

This Act makes provision for the protection and management of the environment and the conservation and sustainable utilization of natural resources and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

This Act makes provision for the co-ordination and implementation of measures to alleviate effects to disasters, the establishment of the office of Commissioner for Disaster Preparedness and Relief the establishment of a National Disaster Preparedness and Relief Committee of Malawi, and for matters incidental thereto or connected therewith.

This Act amends and consolidates the law regarding the preservation of public health.
