The short title of this Act is the Health Ministry Act. This Act amends the 1972 Act establishing the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to create and establish the Ministry of Health.

The executive Decree No 13-155 of 4 Joumada Ethania 1434 amends the Executive Decree No 96-68 of 7 Ramadhan 1416 corresponding to 27 January 1996 on the creation, missions, organization and operation of the Inspectorate-General of the Ministry of Health and Population. This decree was published in the Official Journal of 25 April 2013 (page 27).

This decree governs the organisation of the Ministry of Public Health and addresses among other things, the missions of the ministry (art. 1) and its structure (general structure is fleshed out under article 2).

Tobacco products control Act

The Act gives effect to the World Health Organization 's framework Convention on tobacco control.

This Law establishes modalities for controlling tobacco consumption and tobacco products that are manufactured in Rwanda as well as those imported so as to protect the Rwandan population’s life.

The decree N°11-380 provides for the organization of the central administration of the ministry of Health, Population and Hospital Reform. The text of the decree has been published in the official journal of 23 November 2011 (pages 5-6).

The law reinforces the fight against the use and consumption of tobacco and tobacco products in Burkina Faso. The scope of the law covers the industrial or supervised cultivation of tobacco, the manufacture, packaging, marketing and consumption of tobacco and tobacco products, and exposure to tobacco smoke.

Tobacco Control Act

This Act regulates the use, sale, manufacture, advertising and promotion of a tobacco product and provides for connected matters.

This decree defines the scope of the prohibition on smoking in public places or places open to the public, and specifies the powers of health police officers in enforcing the law on tobacco control. It also sets out the rules governing the liability of manufacturers and distributors of tobacco products in the event of damage caused by the consumption of these products.

The Tobacco Control Act

This Act controls the production, manufacture, sale, labelling, advertising, promotion and sponsorship of tobacco products, provides for the Tobacco Control Board, regulates smoking in specified areas and connected purposes.

Loi No 2006-12, relative à la Lutte Antitabac

The purpose of this Act is to: a) protect the health of the population against the many debilitating and fatal diseases caused by tobacco; b) limit the population's access to tobacco and protect it from inducements to use tobacco and the smoking which may result; c) make the population aware of the dangers of tobacco use and exposure to tobacco smoke.

This Proclamation is to protect the present and future generations from the devastating health, social, environmental and economic consequences of tobacco consumption and exposure to tobacco smoke by providing a legal framework for tobacco control measures, and reduce significantly tobacco use and its consequent harm.

These regulations provide for tobacco control measures including tobacco bans, health warnings, advertising restrictions etc.

The decree N°96-68 addresses the creation, missions, organization and operation of the Inspectorate-General of the Ministry of Health and Population. The text of the decree is provided as part of a compendium of health-related legislation (see pages 22-.24).
