These regulations were developed in the exercise of the powers conferred by sections 24, 30, 46)2), 47(5) and 50(1) of the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023, by the Cabinet Secretary for Health, in consultation with the Board for the Social Health Authority.

These guidelines provide direction to public and private institutions on how to secure a conducive environment for supporting female employees to combine work and breastfeeding. They complement other related materials in the health and nutrition practice.

The Kenya National Guidelines for Quality Obstetrics and Perinatal Care provide a comprehensive framework to ensure safe, effective, and respectful maternity care, aiming to improve health outcomes for mothers and newborns throughout the perinatal period.

These guidelines provide the required standards on the establishment, registration, management and supervision of early childhood development (ECD) services. These are to ensure the effective implementation of ECD programmes.
