These regulations were developed in the exercise of the powers conferred by sections 24, 30, 46)2), 47(5) and 50(1) of the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023, by the Cabinet Secretary for Health, in consultation with the Board for the Social Health Authority.

The Social Health Insurance Act

This Act establishes the framework for the management of social health insurance; provides for the establishment of the Social Health Authority; gives effect to Article 43(1)(a) of the Constitution; and for connected purposes.

Insurance Act, 2021 Act 1061

The Insurance Act of 2021 establishes the National Insurance Commission, and provides for the regulation and supervision of the insurance market and related matters.

National Health Insurance Act, 2012 Act 852

The National Health Insurance Act was adopted to establish a National Health Insurance Authority to implement a National Health Insurance Scheme, establish a National Health Insurance Fund to pay for the cost of health care services to members of the Scheme, establish private health insurance schemes, and to provide for related matters.

The National Health Insurance Regulations of 2004 govern the registration, management, and oversight of health insurance schemes licensed under the Health Insurance Act of 2003, detailing requirements for licensing conditions, and fees. They mandate non-discrimination, set minimum benefit standards, and outline procedures for interim management and the accreditation of healthcare facilities.

The Insurance Act

This Act amends and consolidates the Law relating to insurance, and regulates the business of insurance and connected purposes.
