Health Legislation

The law creates a public administrative establishment, called the "Agence Nationale de Sécurité Sanitaire", under the supervision of the Ministry of Health. The mission of the Agence is to implement the strategic orientations of the Ministry of Health in the field of health safety.

This Law governs natural persons and family as well as relations between persons.

This Act provides for the amendment and consolidation of the laws relating to the compulsory registration of citizens and non-citizens resident in Sierra Leone, provides for the issuance of identity cards, provides for the establishment of the National Civil Registration Authority responsible for the registration of births adoptions, deaths, marriages, divorces and nullities throughout Sierra Leone and provides for other related matters.

This Act gives effect to Article 227 of the Constitution; provides procedures for efficient public procurement and for assets disposal by public entities; and for connected purposes.

The purpose is to collect, process and store the personal data of each citizen in order to establish their civil identity. The law applies to acts of civil identification and the issuing of identity cards to Angolan citizens from the age of at least six.
