Essential Medicines List

The Essential Medicines List of Ghana of 2017 is a comprehensive guide outlining the medicines deemed essential for addressing the primary health care needs of the population. It includes a wide range of medications selected based on their relevance to public health, evidence on efficacy and safety, and comparative cost-effectiveness, aimed at ensuring accessibility and affordability.

The Health Act

This Act establishes a unified health system, coordinates the inter-relationship between the national government and county government health systems, provides for regulation of health care service and health care service providers, health products and health technologies and for connected purposes.

It also gives a final opinion on marketing authorization applications; applications for renewal, extension of variation and transfer of marketing authorization; temporary suspension of marketing authorization; and proposals for definitive withdrawal of marketing authorization.

Public Health Authority Act

This Act establishes the Public Health Authority to regulate and monitor health-related services, and establishes the Public Health Authority Board and the Appeals Board, their functions, powers and procedures and provides for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
