HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act

This Act provides measures for the prevention, management and control of HIV and AIDS, provides for the protection and promotion of public health and the appropriate treatment, counselling, support and care of persons infected or at risk of HIV and AIDS infection, and connected purposes.

The purpose of this law is to combat the spread of the disease caused by the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) leading to the reduction and loss of the body's immune defenses, resulting in Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS); to protect people living with HIV/AIDS against all forms of discrimination or stigmatization; and to reaffirm their fundamental rights and freedoms in accordance with international human rights instruments.

The Law establishes the Order of Doctors of Mozambique and provides the Statute of the Order as an integral part of the law.

Health Professionals Act

This Act provides the legal framework for the regulation, registration, and practice of health professionals by establishing the Health Professionals Council.

This decree creates a National Training School for State-certified Nurses and Midwives in Anaesthesia - Resuscitation called ENAFISAR. This decree defines the organization and functions of the School, the administrative bodies and commissions, the training requirements, etc.

The purpose of this Law is to create a legal framework that allows for the implementation of the actions and mechanisms necessary for the education, prevention, treatment, epidemiological surveillance, research, care and monitoring of sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS, as well as to guarantee respect, protection and defence of human rights, and to eliminate the stigmatization and discrimination of people infected with HIV/AIDS. This law sets out the foundations of the National Health Service, including the definition of health actions and services, on a permanent or occasional basis, by natural or legal persons governed by public or private law, with a view to promoting and protecting health, preventing, treating and rehabilitating illness.

Medical and Dental Act

This Act provides for the establishment and constitution of a professional Council for the medical and dental professions; determines the powers, duties and functions of such Council; regulates the registration of medical practitioners and of dentists, and of persons practising certain professions allied to the medical profession or to the dental profession; specifies the education, training and qualifications of persons practising such professions; prohibits the practising of any such profession without being registered; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

This Act provides for the establishment and constitution of a professional Council for the pharmacy profession; determines the powers, duties and functions of such Council; regulates the registration of pharmacists and persons practising professions allied to the pharmacy profession; specifies the education and training and qualifications of persons practising such professions; prohibits the practising of any such profession without being registered; and provides for matters incidental thereto.

Code of Medical Ethics in Nigeria

The law enacts the Code of medical ethics in Nigeria for every medical and dental practitioner.

Medical and Dental Practitioners Act

This Act establishes the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria for the registration of medical practitioners and dental surgeons and provides for a Disciplinary Tribunal for the discipline of members.

Nursing and Midwifery (registration, etc.) Act

This Act establishes the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria for the registration of nurses and midwives and State Nursing and Midwifery Committees, and provides for the discipline of nurses and midwives and other ancillary matters.
