The purpose of this Law is to establish mechanisms for the protection and promotion of health, the prevention and control of diseases, as well as threats and risks to public health.

This Law establishes the Disaster Risk Management and Reduction Legal Regime, which comprises risk reduction, disaster management, sustainable recovery for building human, infrastructural and ecosystem resilience, as well as adaptation to climate change.

This Law establishes the rules for the efficient and safe production, distribution, use and availability, as well as quality assurance of medicines, vaccines, biological and health products for citizens.

The Law establishes the Order of Nurses of Mozambique and approves its Statute. The Order of Nurses of Mozambique is a legal person governed by public law, representing nurses, and carrying out services in the public interest. Registration and recognition by the Order of Nurses are mandatory conditions for the exercise of nursing activity in Mozambique.

The law regulates the legal framework for the exercise of private medicine.   

The Law establishes the Order of Doctors of Mozambique and provides the Statute of the Order as an integral part of the law.

Lei No 12/2004 Aprova o Código do Registo Civil

The law approves the Civil Registration Code.

This law establishes the legal regime for foreign nationals, setting out, in particular, the rules governing their entry, stay and exit from the country, their rights, duties and guarantees. With the exception of visa requirements, this law does not apply to permanent diplomatic and consular agents and their families or to special missions.

Lei No 21/91 estatuo de refugiado

The law regulates the refugee status. Its definition, the impediment and loss of refugee status, the authorization requirements among others issues.

The law creates the National Health Service of Mozambique. It also provides information on the organization of levels of care in the country: primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary.

The law states that all health measures of a prophylactic nature are free of charge. Every citizen has the right to free medical care when they are hospitalized. All complementary diagnostic tests are free of charge both in inpatient and outpatient settings.
