Health Legislation

This Order provides for the creation, organization and operation of the program called the National Health Education Programme.

This Act repeals and replaces the Public Health Act of 1960, provides for the promotion, protection and improvement of public health and well-being in Sierra Leone, provides for the protection of individuals and communities from public health risks, provides for the prevention and control of the spread of infectious diseases, provides for local government and community participation in protecting public health, provides for early detection and prompt response to diseases and public health threats and provides for other related matters.

This Order establishes the organization and operation of the regional health system.

This Decree provides for the definition of attributions of the Minister of Health and the organization of the Central Administration of his Department. This Decree provides for the conditions relating to the standards, skills, and ethics in matters of prescription and provision of services in reproductive health, as well as to the sale and administration of contraceptive products and authorized methods of contraception.

This Order establishes the National Program for the Fight against STIs/HIV/AIDS (PNLS) created within the Directorate for the Fight against Diseases at the Ministry of Health.

This Law contributes to the protection of the present and future generations from the devastating health, social and health effects of diseases affecting public health and in particular reproductive health in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania. This Act repeals and replaces the National Pharmaceutical Procurement Unit Act, 2012 to establish the National Medical Supplies Agency as a public service agency responsible for the procurement, warehousing and distribution of drugs and medical supplies in a transparent and cost-effective manner for and on behalf of all public institutions throughout Sierra Leone.

This Act provides for the amendment and consolidation of the laws relating to the compulsory registration of citizens and non-citizens resident in Sierra Leone, provides for the issuance of identity cards, provides for the establishment of the National Civil Registration Authority responsible for the registration of births adoptions, deaths, marriages, divorces and nullities throughout Sierra Leone and provides for other related matters.

The Sierra Leone Basic Package of Essential Health Services provides a framework and guiding document for improving health service delivery in Sierra Leone. It represents a commitment from the Government of Sierra Leone to ensure that a basic level of essential health care service delivery is available to its people.

This Order determines the list of serious or disabling illnesses for which the insured person is entitled to total or partial exemption from payment of the portion of the costs remaining his responsibility, as well as the conditions under which the exemption is granted.

This Decree defines the attributions, the organization and the functioning of the Public Hygiene Police of Mauritania.

This Law defines the rules of public health and hygiene in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, in particular on public spaces, homes, food and non-food products, water, commercial facilities and industries, educational and health establishments, public buildings, and the natural environment. Its main objective is to preserve and promote public health.
