Health Legislation

This Act repeals and replaces the Public Health Act of 1960, provides for the promotion, protection and improvement of public health and well-being in Sierra Leone, provides for the protection of individuals and communities from public health risks, provides for the prevention and control of the spread of infectious diseases, provides for local government and community participation in protecting public health, provides for early detection and prompt response to diseases and public health threats and provides for other related matters.

It represents a commitment from the Government of Sierra Leone to ensure that a basic level of essential health care service delivery is available to its people.

This Labor Code governs professional relations between Workers and employers resulting from employment contracts concluded to be executed in the territory of the Central African Republic. It determines the procedure for settling individual and collective conflicts resulting from the execution of the employment contract. It also governs the staff of State Companies, Mixed Economy Companies and Public Offices.

The Constitution of Sierra Leone is the supreme law of the state that regulates the division of powers within the country, sets out the key values and principles, defines the rights, freedoms and obligations of the people, etc. The Constitution of Sierra Leone consists of 192 articles that are grouped into 14 chapters which are supplemented by four schedules.

This law determines which individuals have Central African nationality at birth as their nationality of origin. Central African nationality is acquired or lost after birth by the operation of the law or by a decision of the public authority taken under the conditions established by law.

This Ordinance provides for the registration of medical practitioners and dentists and for the registration and licensing of druggists.
