The Act covers aspects such as the rights of a child and the responsibilities of its parents; the child in need of care and protection; the offences to health and welfare of children; the conditions to take a child into care and for adoption; trafficking of children; child rehabilitation and conflict with criminal law; police powers and duties regarding children and legislation regarding minor’s criminal law.

National Identity Cards Act 2011

The Act mandates the establishment of a National Identity Register, the issuance of national identity cards to persons whose are included in the national identity register and for related matters.

Data Protection Act 2011 (Act No 5 of 2012)

The Act establishes the Data Protection Commission, provide for principles for regulation of processing of personal information in order to protect and reconcile the fundamental and competing values of personal information privacy under this Act and sector-specific legislation and other related matters.
