This Law provides provisions on the definition, principles and rights in reproductive health, defines reproductive health service entities and workforce, and regulates contraception, voluntary termination of pregnancy, rights of people suffering from STDs/AIDS and penal provisions.
The Constitution of Benin was adopted in 1990 and promulgated by Law No 90-32. The Constitution consists of 160 articles and covers a wide array of areas ranging from state principles, values, rights and obligations of the people, division of powers within the state, etc.
This Law amends Articles 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 13, 14, 16, 18, 20, 21, 23, 25, 27, 31, 33, 36, 37, 38, 42, 45, 47, 51, 51, 52, 53, 54, 55, 56, 65, 66, 80 and 86 of the Law No 2020-37 protecting the health of people in the Republic of Benin.
The purpose of this law is to organize the protection of the health of the population, and to define the obligations imposed on citizens in the event of communicable, non-communicable, contagious diseases or epidemics. It applies to any person living in the Republic of Benin or entering Benin territory.
