Bio

Maki Kato MacDermot worked as a registered nurse in intensive care units in Japan and the United Kingdom. Maki also completed BSc Psychology at Middlesex University in 2000 and an MSc Global Health Policy at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. She has worked as a public health researcher and a healthcare consultant at The Chinese University of Hong Kong since 2014 where she was involved in various international research and education activities, such as health impacts of natural / man-made hazards, community health promotion, and developing a series of online courses for public health principles and climate change. She was also responsible for coordinating a WHO funded research on workforce development in Health Emergences and Disaster Risk Reduction.
