This online course aims at enabling states to prevent the introduction and spread of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in non-affected geographical areas by conducting exit screening and taking associated public health measures at points of entry in countries with Ebola transmission.

This course is targeted towards Professionals from National IHR Focal Points (NFPs), health authorities, staff working at points of entry (POE).

After completing this module you will be able to:

  • Identify key steps for planning and Implementing exit screening process at selected terminals or facilities.
  • Develop a communication plan to educate travelers, community leaders, and the travel industry on the EVD outbreak and on the exit screening process.
  • Explain how primary and secondary exit screening should be conducted applying Infection Prevention Control (IPC) measures.
  • List key criteria used to Identify travelers with signs and symptoms consistent with EVD or at risk of illness from exposure to EVD and identify public health measures to be applied to them.
