One Health-Systems Mapping and Analysis Resource Toolkit (OH-SMART) Regional Training and OHCEA Workforce Planning Meeting, Kampala, Uganda February, 13-17, 2017

Friday, 3 March 2017

WHO participated in the OH SMART training and One Health Central and East Africa University Network Workforce planning meeting. The OH SMART tool is a tool that promotes multisectoral collaboration championed by the University of Minnesota and its university networks. WHO provided information on IHR and the new monitoring framework which includes the Joint External Evaluation. The different tools and training resources developed and used  by WHO related to IHR as well as to promote One Health were also presented. This include IHR-PVS Bridging Workshop, IHR related trainings and the RRT Knowledge Network. WHO also took the opportunity to document examples of country approaches to One Health i.e., Avian influenza response in Uganda and Rift Valley Fever Preparedness in Kenya.

OH SMART can complement the IHR-PVS Bridging Workshop in detailing gaps in activities, which will then be used in developing action plans. There is also an opportunity to work with the networks in promoting IHR related trainings. WHO provided the meeting participants the link to the Health Security Learning Platform.
