Abstract
Shisha café patrons in Cairo, Egypt were interviewed to assess their knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding smoking and health. The median age of initiation of Shisha smoking is 20 years. Shisha smokers know about the hazards of smoking and believe that Shisha smoking is less dangerous than cigarette smoking. Over half the Shisha smokers have tried to quit in the past year. The younger adults who smoke Shisha also tend to smoke more often with friends, smoke cigarettes in addition to Shisha and prefer fruit flavored tobacco as compared to tobacco mixed with molasses favored by Shisha smokers who are older. Heavy Shisha smoking was not related to age.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE: The main objective of this study was to investigate the prevalence and beliefs of water pipe & cigarette smoking among Qassim University male students. METHODOLOGY: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among the students of Literature Colleges, Health Colleges of Qassim University and a self-administered, anonymous, pre-structured, designed proforma was distributed among randomly selected group of 500 male university students during January 2011. The questionnaire was designed to ask specific questions that are related to cigarette smoking and water pipe smoking in general and their belief regarding smoking. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS software. RESULTS: The total prevalence rate of waterpipe smoking was found to be 40% and Cigarette smoking was 41%. The major prevalence was found among the students of Health College (50%) then Science College (38%) and Literature College (12%). Cigarette smoking, smoking among relatives and friends has significant association (P

Abstract
INTRODUCTION: This study sought to determine the sociodemographic and behavioral factors associated with water pipe and smokeless tobacco (SLT) use among a population of medical students in the Pretoria area, South Africa. METHODS: Undergraduate medical students (N = 722) in their 2nd and 6th year of study in 2 medical schools in South Africa completed a self-administered questionnaire during 2008. Information on ever and current use of water pipe and SLT was obtained along with information on sociodemographic variables, alcohol use, and cigarette smoking status. Multiple logistic regression analysis were used to determine factors associated with current use of water pipe and SLT. RESULTS: The mean age of study participants was 23 years. Of the participants, 53% were female and 55% were self-identified as Black Africans. Of the study participants, 18.6% were current water pipe users, 3.1% were current SLT users, while 17.3% were current cigarette smokers. Factors independently associated with current water pipe use were having an alcohol drinking-problem (odds ratio [OR] = 2.43; 95% CI = 1.48-3.40), currently smoking cigarettes (3.40; 2.04-5.67), and reporting exposure to smoking in places other than home (2.51; 1.29-4.90). Compared with Black students, White medical students were more likely to have smoked a water pipe in the past month (3.14; 1.74-5.70) but less likely to have ever used SLT (0.37; 0.19-0.73). CONCLUSIONS: These findings suggest that the use of alternative tobacco products is common among South African medical students and may form part of a pattern of risk-taking behavior. Furthermore, there appear to be cultural differences in the use of certain tobacco products.

Abstract
Recently, the first priority of the waterworks in Osaka City has been given to the security of the water system, i.e., facility monitoring to assure a safe and reliable water supply. The information management is essential for this purpose. It is indispensable to classify information and continue the study of information systems. In this report, how Osaka City Waterworks uses its information system to distribute its water supply is explained as follows.

Abstract
The water pipe network is the most important capital investment of any water supply. Every 20-25 years, the actual condition of the pipe network will be examined and assessed, and miscellaneous causes of damage investigated and determined. The long-term future pipe network strategy of a water supply enterprise comprises both network extension and conservation of existing assets by means of systematic preventive maintenance and consequent replacement. long-term financial planning should be based on replacement rates that take into account the interdependence between pressure conditions, drinking water quality, water losses, damage frequency, age of pipe network, durability of pipe material, construction cost increase, and coordination of the underground infrastructure, as well as profitability and supply image. The annual repair costs amounting to approx. 7% of the Zurich Water Supply turnover are too high. External corrosion/settlement, which is responsible for 90% of the 600-800 damaged pipes, is attributed to the combined effect of corrosion currents from tramlines, reinforced concrete structures and macro-elements. These are accelerated by aggressive, partly water-saturated heterogeneous soils and galvanic compounds, mainly earthing installations. Countermeasures are comprised in the Zurich Pipe Network Strategy and in the long-term financial plan. Only the best pipe network material is good enough. 'Who believes in the future also relies on the future!'

Abstract
Water pipe smoking is a recently growing addiction worldwide. It has become popular in Africa and the Western World and enfaces a renaissance in Middle East and Asia. The smoking technique leads to a different exposure to potential hazardous compounds compared to cigarette or classical pipe smoking. The common assumption that water pipe smoking is less dangerous to health is not substantiated by scientific data. Non-tobacco-based preparations reduce the exposure to nicotine but may contain equal or even higher concentrations of other toxic compounds. The medical literature on adverse effect of water pipe smoking on skin and oral mucosa is reviewed but future research is a demand.

Abstract
SIGNIFICANCE: In recent years a water pipe gains popularity among Polish young people. Unfortunately, young people use it to burn not only tobacco, but also other addictive and psychoactive substances. AIM OF THE STUDY: The aim of the study was to assess the phenomenon of using a water pipe to smoke psychoactive substances by young people. METHODS: The study was conducted based on the author's guestionnaire. The anonymous test was conducted throughout Poland, selecting randomly ten high schools and two universities from each province. RESULTS: In the survey participated 19 037 people from the region of Poland. 83% of them were high school pupils aged 15-19 years and 17% of them were students aged 20-25 years. 38% of volunteers at least once in their life have smoked a water pipe, and 22% have smoked it during last 30 days. Apart from tobacco 38% of the smoking people used also, apart from the tobacco designet for smoking in a water pipe, psychoactive substances. The most common is marihuana. 16% of school pupils and 17% of students used marihuana, 14% and 15% hashish, 8% and 11% crack, and 11% and 15% boosters. CONCLUSIONS: Presented data from all-Poland research conducted among school pupils and students illustrate only occasional and sporadic experience in drug use and the outright conclusions about the scale of the permanent use of psychoactive substances can not be drawn. A social aspect of a water pipe smoking is favourable to an alcohol consumption and lots of with different psychoactive substances. Due to the scale of the problem it is advisable to do in-depth research about the described phenomenon. It is also advisable to conduct more intensive programs to promote healthy behaviors and increase more attention to the reasons of such behaviour among young people.
