Abstract

This study aims to review the evidence to determine whether school-based tobacco control programs help public school students quit smoking and to assess the effectiveness of these programs. Seven different interventions were reported, including a cognitive-behavioral approach. This review of studies summarized the knowledge on the different methods used in smoking cessation programs. It highlights smoking cessation programs implemented in public schools. Based on the data from this review, it is recommended that the Project Ex program and physical activities, as well as motivational interviews, be included in smoking cessation programs implemented in schools.
