Emergency Response

Context:
Angola is experiencing a large-scale cholera outbreak, with 11,307 cases and 421 deaths reported by Ministry of Health as of 08 April 2025. The outbreak has spread to different provinces, including Benguela, Luanda, Cuanza, Norte, Bengo, Icolo e Bengo, Namibe and Malanje, with new cases reported daily. Notably, one-third of deaths occurring in the community and the highest burden among those under 20 years old (more information here).
 

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia with the EMT Secretariat from the WHO Regional Office for Europe and WHO Headquarters have concluded their preparatory discussions with an agreement to hold the EMT Global Meeting 2022 in Yerevan. Armenia will host this high-level international event in the fall 2022.

Join the Emergency Medical Teams sessions at the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks - HNPW! On week 2 (09-13 May) of the HNPW, the EMT Network will be having face to face sessions to update member states, partners and networks on its current activities, emergency responses and the strategic direction of the Initiative and its Network. The sessions will be in Salle 14 of the International Conference Centre (CICG) in Geneva, Switzerland and will have the option for remote participation for those that are unable to join in person.
