WHO launches an Emergency Medical Team Training Centre in Addis Ababa

On 14 April 2021, the World Health Organization and the Ethiopian Ministry of Health launched a training centre for a new collaboration to strengthen the delivery of emergency medical and health services in the African Region during humanitarian crises. The launching ceremony was officiated by the WHO Regional Director for Africa, Dr Matshidiso Moeti, and Honorable Minister of Health, Dr Lia Tadesse.

DPR Korea Conducts National Training on Emergency Medical Teams

WHO conducted the first DPR Korea National Training on Emergency Medical Teams on 26-28 August, in Pyongyang. 

Thirty-one participants from the Ministry of Public Health, the Health Emergency Operations Centre, the National Center for Communicable Diseases, Central Hygienic and Anti-Epidemic Institute, the emergency departments of key tertiary level hospitals and key University hospitals across the country attended the training. 

Paving the way for the first Type 1 Emergency Medical Team in Macao SAR, China

The Macao China Emergency Medical Team conducted their first team member training course in an effort to strengthen its capabilities as it goes through the process of international classification. The Macao Health Bureau conducted the course with support from the World Health Organization Emergency Medical Team Initiative, the Australian Medical Assistance Team, and the humanitarian consultancy firm, Training in Aid.

Lao PDR: Initiative to Strengthen Coordination for Emergency Medical Teams

VIENTIANE, 29 October 2018 - A joint meeting between the Government of the Lao PeopleÔÇÖs Democratic Republic (LAO PDR) and the World Health Organization (WHO) promoted improved coordination and training of national Emergency Medical Teams (EMTs) deployed to disasters, outbreaks, and other emergencies in the country.  

The Vice Minister of Health of Laos PDR, Dr Phouthone Muongpak, opened the meeting,  which took place on Monday, 29 October 2018, at the Crowne Plaza Vientiane.
