Armenia: Emergency Medical Team Introductory Workshop

An Emergency Medical Team Introductory Workshop was held in Yerevan, Armenia from 30 October to 1 November 2018 for over 20 participants from the Ministry of Health, including the National Center for Disease Control (NCDC) and Ministry of Emergency Situations. The overall aim was to create an awareness of the international guiding principles and minimum standards for Emergency Medical Teams (EMT) and the EMT coordination methodology and to provide an opportunity for key partners to engage collectively and further strengthen the national capacity to activate and coordinate national and international emergency medical teams in emergencies with health consequences. The workshop was also a key opportunity to prepare for the participation of national and international Emergency Medical Teams in the upcoming International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) earthquake response exercise to be held in Armenia early on 3-7 December 2018 on the occasion of 30th anniversary of devastating earthquake in Spitak.
