Nomenclature of the Health unit in Airport/Port/Ground Crossings of different countries Reg:-

Dear Colleagues from All Countries,

With a warm wish I am communicating in this forum taking a longer break. But if there is any international assistance needed this forum is the answer always as a platform to get the feedback.

I wish to have a feedback on how is your Health Unit called in your country.

Airport Health Organisation  or Airport Health Officer or Airport Health Quarantine Unit or Office or Organisation or Environmental Health Organisation or Office or Border Quarantine Organisation or Unit.

SSCs and definition of ship

Hi everyone

Seeking your comments on how you apply the definition of ship to vessels for the purposes of issuing SSCs.

In NZ we have excluded recreational craft such as yachts (including super yachts) but have required fishing boats/craft even small ones to have a SSC. IS there is definition of "ship" that is commonly referred to that has for example a weight restriction applied to it?

I have searched the handbook and have found these references but no further helpful definition for "ships" that would be considered in scope.

SSCs on Naval and Coastguard vessels

Dear Colleagues,

SSCs - electronically generated, signed and stamped

Kia ora koutou

Greetings to you all from New Zealand. Hope this finds you all well in these strange global times.

I have a question about SSCs I would appreciate some feedback on.

In New Zealand we have still be issuing SSCs the old fashioned way - the certificates are completed by hand, signed and then stamped with a Ministry of Health stamped.  The template form itself has been designed to be completed electronically but our concerns about completing the forms by electronic means have been about minimising the possibility of fraudulent forms being generated.

What institution is in charge of IHR application in Germany?

Hi!, I would like to know what is the institution responsible for IHR implementation and application in Germany?, and also, do anybody knows if there's a maritime-only agency in charge of that subject (like ANVISA in Brazil)

Danke!

New Challenge

Good day everyone,

Some of you will know this already but after over 17 years with Suffolk Coastal Port Health Authority, Felixstowe, UK, I will be leaving to take up a new Port Health challenge with the Government of Bermuda. As yet I do not know my new contact details but I still hope to have regular involvement with PAGNet and the many friends and colleagues I have within the Port Health Community.

Today is my last day in the Felixstowe office so if you send any emails to my scpha address, please note that these will no longer reach me.

Best Wishes,

New International Travel Advice and updatyes regarding SSCs

Dear Colleagues,

Yesterday WHO issued a new international travel advice which can be found at https://www.who.int/news-room/articles-detail/public-health-considerations-while-resuming-international-travel

Of particular note is paragraph 4.4 and advice regarding ensuring that Points of Entry have capacity to inspect ships and issue Ship Sanitation Certificates.

Kind Regards,

Martin Walker,
