The International Pharmaceutical Students’ Federation, representing 600,000 members across more than 100 countries, recognises that sustainable implementation of the International Health Regulations is essential for global health security.
The 2025 report shows progress in early warning, event verification, and core capacity reporting, but also the need for continued investment in surveillance, laboratories, risk communication, and points of entry.
IPSF believes pharmacists and pharmacy students can support these efforts by improving access to essential medicines, aiding vaccine delivery and safe dispensing, promoting accurate public health information, and strengthening community trust during emergencies.
As WHO advances the 2024 IHR amendments, IPSF calls for equitable preparedness, multisectoral collaboration, and youth engagement.
