PSI acknowledges and commends WHO’s work in health emergencies despite severe funding cuts. The increasing frequency and complexity of the global health emergency landscape require Member States to take far-reaching steps, including support for the WHO’s health emergency prevention, preparedness, response, and resilience framework.

Health emergencies are also becoming more intertwined with geopolitical fissures and wars than ever before. Attacks on health facilities and the targeting of health workers and patients worsen already dire situations and are unacceptable.
PSI calls on Member States to prioritise community protection and safeguarding the lives of health and care workers as critical elements of emergency response.
