Meeting:

79th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
14.3 Poliomyelitis
Statement:

World Vision International welcomes the Assembly’s continued focus on polio. Inaccessibility due to conflict, insecurity, and geography continue to pose major challenges to polio eradication efforts. Cross-border coordination during outbreak response also remains a critical gap, often resulting in limited synchronization of vaccination campaigns and missed opportunities to reach vulnerable and mobile populations, including zero-dose children.

This underscores the need for strengthened collaboration among Member States through regional polio coordination platforms to enhance information sharing, synchronize supplementary immunization activities, and optimize the efficient use of limited resources. Sustained community engagement at all levels, including meaningful partnership with civil society organizations, remains essential to building trust, improving access, and ensuring that no child is left behind.
