Honourable Chair, Distinguished Delegates,

The World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry aligns with the industry and advocates for better health and well-being through increased levels of sport and physical activity.

We strongly welcome a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach to health, including multisectoral policy-making, to better integrate physical activity into daily life.

We also welcome the draft strategy on the economics of health for all, which recognises that prevention should be seen as an investment and not a cost. Last year’s Political Declaration on NCDs recognised physical activity as a core, cost‑effective prevention solution.

However, physical activity remains overlooked as a health intervention, and inactivity continues to rise, with 81% of the next generation not moving enough to stay healthy.
