79th WHA Individual Statements
MWIA brings 106 years of leadership experience in women’s health and the rights of female medical professionals.
We reaffirm that strong primary health care and a sustainable health workforce are foundations of Universal Health Coverage. Persistent underinvestment in primary healthcare disproportionately affects women, children and vulnerable populations.
We also welcome the Expert Advisory Group's report and reaffirm that the ethical recruitment of health personnel is essential, particularly in countries facing critical workforce shortages.
The WHO Global Code of Practice should reflect that women comprise 67% of the global health and social workforce and require specific protection measures to ensure equitable employment, decent working conditions, and safeguarding rights, especially in emergency and fragile settings.
MWIA stands ready to collaborate in advancing these efforts.
