The International League Against Epilepsy urges Member States to integrate prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and psychosocial care into national health strategies, aligned with IGAP, given that fifty million people live with epilepsy, a stigmatized condition that disproportionately affects low- and middle-income countries, contributing 5% of global DALYs and over 1% of deaths. Its prevalence continues to rise, especially among older adults. Investing in epilepsy care reduces disability, premature mortality, and productivity loss.. The ILAE supports multisector collaboration through region-specific evidence generation and improved health information systems, enabling real-time evaluation of clinical, economic, and social benefits and helping design efficient, inclusive care models.
