79th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 1: Malaria & Communicable Diseases
Statement:

Global progress against malaria is at a critical point, threatened by financing pressures and strains on health systems. Malaria programs are vital for overall health system resilience, as their weakening affects broader health care delivery.

Despite challenges, countries are demonstrating that progress is feasible through sustained political leadership and investment.

We urge Member States to prioritize country-led and integrated malaria responses that protect vulnerable populations and support resilient health systems. Eliminating malaria is achievable, but it requires urgent and sustained action from countries and partners alike.
