Agenda Item:
- Group 10: Health Conditions (OPT & Golan)
Statement:

Health conditions in the occupied Palestinian territory, including east Jerusalem (item 17.2)

WMA reiterates its resolution calling on the Israeli government to comply with the Geneva Conventions and other applicable instruments of humanitarian law.

Gaza is facing a deepening humanitarian and public health crisis. People are trapped in famine, marked by widespread starvation, destitution and preventable deaths, according to an Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis. Medical supplies and intervention are vital to treat the effects of malnutrition.

It is imperative that all governments, armed forces, and entities in positions of authority strictly adhere to international humanitarian law, thereby guaranteeing unimpeded access to humanitarian aid, medical infrastructure and essential medicines.

In Gaza, as in all other parts of the world, health personnel must be able to carry out their duties safely and without obstruction or interference, in accordance with the ethical principles of their profession.
