International Pharmaceutical Federation

Meeting:

79th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 4: SDGs & Digital Health
Statement:

Honourable Chair, Distinguished Delegates,

Thank you for the opportunity to speak on behalf of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP), the global organisation representing over 5.5 million pharmacists, pharmacy educators and pharmaceutical scientists worldwide.

Accelerating progress towards the health-related UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires integrated, equitable, and sustainable health systems and workforces. Pharmacists are essential to advancing universal health coverage through ensuring safe, effective, and equitable access to medicines, strengthening prevention and primary care, and supporting vaccination and digital health services.

FIP calls on Member States to fully integrate pharmacists into national SDG implementation strategies, including workforce planning and sustainable health system transformation. Investing in pharmacy strengthens health systems and accelerates progress towards the 2030 Agenda, ensuring no one is left behind.

Thank you for your attention.
