79th WHA Individual Statements
Honourable Chair, Distinguished Delegates,
The International League of Dermatological Societies welcomes the Director-General’s report on mental health and its consideration by the 79th World Health Assembly.
Skin diseases are frequently associated with mental health burden. Their visible and often chronic nature contribute to anxiety, depression, social isolation and stigma, with significant impacts on quality of life.
We urge Member States to strengthen accessible, person-centred mental health support at community level and to promote coordinated action across sectors to address the social and structural factors that affect mental well-being. Integrating dermatological care within these efforts can contribute to a more holistic approach for people living with skin diseases, while advancing dignity, inclusion and equity.
