79th WHA Individual Statements
The International Association of Communication Sciences and Disorders, with the support of the World Rehabilitation Alliance, welcomes the proposed Resolution on reducing the burden of stroke.
This aligns with global evidence and national models, including Egypt, where fragmented healthcare sectors have been integrated into a unified nationwide stroke system. Coordinated pathways, early response, and structured rehabilitation improve outcomes and quality of life. We call on Member States to ensure implementation through:
● investment in integrated stroke and rehabilitation services, including workforce capacity and infrastructure and
● incorporating functioning as a third dimension of population health within monitoring frameworks.
Advancing stroke care and rehabilitation is imperative to build resilient and equitable health systems.
