78th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Item 24.2 Review of and update on matters considered by the Executive Board were discussed during the 156th Executive Board meeting in February 2025.
Statement:

We urge Member States to support the extension of the global nutrition targets as outlined in the Maternal, Infant, and Young Child Nutrition Comprehensive Implementation Plan. Recognizing that nutrition is foundational to maternal health and child survival, the World Health Assembly targets serve as an essential benchmark to guide efforts in addressing critical issues related to stunting, anemia, low birth weight, overweight, wasting, and exclusive breastfeeding. Building upon the recent commitments made at the 2025 Nutrition for Growth Summit, these targets have become the benchmark for measuring progress by national governments and on a global scale. By aligning this agenda with the 2030 deadline for the Sustainable Development Goals, we can accelerate progress and ensure that all Member States and partners prioritize the health, nutrition, and well-being of mothers and children worldwide.
