78th WHA Individual Statements
Chair, distinguished delegates,
Anesvad Foundation strongly supports the proposed resolution on Skin Diseases as a Global Health Priority, and we urge all Member States to adopt it.
Skin diseases, including many neglected tropical diseases, are among the most common health conditions globally. They affect millions—especially in low-resource settings—causing pain, disability, and deep social stigma. Yet, these diseases remain under-prioritized in global health agendas.
This resolution is a critical opportunity to change that. It promotes an integrated, person-centered approach that aligns with universal health coverage and the broader goal of health equity. It will help drive investment in primary care, early diagnosis, mental health and community-based interventions—where the need is greatest.
At Anesvad, we have seen firsthand the transformative impact of addressing skin NTDs through holistic, rights-based strategies. We believe this resolution can catalyze real, lasting change.
We urge all Member States to endorse and implement it—and ensure that people affected by skin diseases are no longer left behind.
Thank you.
