Meeting:

78th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Item 13.3 Universal health coverage
Statement:

We wish to acknowledge that it is now ten years since Resolution 68.15, which recognised emergency and essential surgical and anaesthesia care as indispensable in achieving universal health coverage.

Marking this anniversary as a united surgical community, we ask member states to renew their commitment to emergency, critical and operative care as key components of resilient health systems. We ask civil society to commit to high standards in research and clinical practice, foster shared learning, and promote equitable partnerships. We continue our support to WHO in integrating surgical care as a visible, measurable, and financed component of primary health care, humanitarian and climate resilience agendas.
