Meeting:

78th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Item 13.9 Global strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health
Statement:

Despite global progress, achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) targets 3.1 and 3.8 remains off track. Unacceptably high maternal mortality and morbidity rates in many regions reveal deep inequities in access to quality care. The 2024 resolution on UHC and maternal health urged stronger health systems, improved quality of care, and equitable access, especially for vulnerable populations.

The International Hospital Federation emphasizes the shared responsibility in achieving maternal health goals. Hospital managers are uniquely positioned to drive change by translating global commitments into local solutions. Their leadership is essential to delivering high-quality, integrated maternal health services in line with UHC.

We call on WHO and Member States to empower hospital managers with resources, policy support, and collaborative platforms, ensuring every woman receives the care she deserves, leaving no one behind.
