79th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
20.1 Reform of the global health architecture and the UN80 Initiative
Statement:

Esteemed delegates and Honorable Chairperson,

As IFMSA, we acknowledge WHO and Member State efforts to reform the global health architecture and advance sustainable financing.

We welcome the consultations between the Task Force and the WHO Youth Council outlined in the proposal. These must be formally integrated into the reform process, held at defined points in time, and enable youth to shape meeting agendas and outcomes. Clear accountability is essential: youth inputs should be systematically documented, with transparent and public reporting on how they inform final decisions.

We call for inclusive youth engagement at local and grassroots levels, and urge the Task Force and Member States to ensure diverse representation. Youth and civil society are essential partners in building a sustainable and resilient global health architecture.
Thank you.
