79th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 10: Health Conditions (OPT & Golan)
Statement:

We express concern about the health of Syrians, including the health workforce, in the occupied Golan and urge WHO to fulfill its responsibilities in reporting on the health of Syrians living there. We urge WHO to maintain its emergency work in Occupied Palestinian territory and stance against the targeting of health workers and facilities.

We urge MS to continue supporting WHO to provide life-saving services to these areas and to hold perpetrators accountable in the ICJ. We also urge MS to provide the necessary support to other organisations such as UNRWA and MSF working in these areas.

We urge UN agencies to monitor, report on and advocate for the health and human rights of prisoners from these areas.

Illegal occupation is a social determinant of health and we call on MS to work towards ending illegal occupations.
