Agenda Item:
- Group 9: Well-being & Economics of Health of All
Statement:

Medical Women’s International Association welcomes the draft strategy on the Economics of Health for All and its commitments to equity and gender equality.

Achieving health for all requires deliberate prioritization of women facing the greatest barriers. Globally, 66% of the poorest women lack access to universal health coverage due to financial constraints, and 20% still require permission to seek health care.

We agree that the contribution of non-health workers in health facilities and informal, unpaid family care workers, predominantly women, must be explicitly acknowledged and valued.

Women represent nearly 70% of the global health workforce, yet hold only around 25% of leadership positions.

Centering the most vulnerable women and female health professionals is essential to realizing health for all.
