Agenda item 12.4 – Draft Global Strategy for Integrated Emergency, Critical And Operative Care.
The World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists, welcome the draft ECO Strategy. Anaesthesiologists are uniquely positioned as we work across the whole ECO continuum and this is an important step forward for UHC.
Successful implementation of strategy will only be achieved if clinicians —through their national organisations—are central to the design, governance, and delivery of the training systems at the core of this strategy. This is not a new insight: experience across countries consistently shows that externally driven or fragmented training approaches do not deliver sustainable system change.
Trainings need to be continuous, multidisciplinary, tailored to national context and embedded within health systems.
WFSA stands ready to support Member States in translating this strategy into practical, workforce-led implementation that strengthens safe, timely, and equitable ECO care for all.
