79th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
12.4 Universal health coverage
Statement:

We welcome the Precision Medicine resolution and encourage Member States to adopt it to advance equitable access to effective and sustainable precision medicine.

We commend the recognition that molecular profiling, when supported by robust evidence and appropriate health system capacity, can improve patient outcomes, inform more efficient use of resources, and advance research. We welcome the emphasis on evidence-informed approaches that are essential for sustainable implementation.

Where implementation is grounded in health system strengthening, equity, and national priorities and capacities, precision medicine can support universal health coverage.

ESMO stands ready to support WHO and Member States through evidence-based guidance and frameworks for the implementation of precision oncology into health systems (1-6).
