International Federation of Medical Students' Associations
78th WHA Individual Statements
Honourable Chairperson, Distinguished Delegates,
The IFMSA calls on Member States to:
1. Fully fund and operationalise national AMR action plans, with measurable targets, strong surveillance systems, coordinated One Health strategies and accountability systems.
2. Embed AMR education in all levels of healthcare training, ensuring healthcare students are equipped with knowledge on antimicrobial stewardship, diagnostics, and prevention measures.
3. Engage youth actively in AMR policy, advocacy, and implementation efforts through initiatives like the Quadripartite Working Group on Youth Engagement for AMR, hackathons, and co-creation of AMR awareness campaigns and toolkits.
We also call on the WHO to provide technical support to integrate youth into national AMR responses, capacity-building opportunities, and foster intergenerational platforms like the Youth Manifesto to amplify youth voices in decision-making.
Youth are ready to lead and act. We need your commitment to fully include us in shaping a sustainable AMR response.
Thank you.
