Agenda Item:
- Group 1.2. Items 11.3, 11.4 and 11.5
Statement:

The World Federation of Neurology appreciates the renewal of the commitment by member states to increase efforts to end tuberculosis made in September 2023.

The burden of neuro - tuberculosis, remains high and the occurrence of severe forms such as tuberculosis meningitis, characterized by high mortality and disability rates, continues to disproportionately affect low- and middle-income countries.

Addressing major infectious diseases like tuberculosis contributes to overall disease control and reduces the burden on healthcare systems. Neurology professionals play a role in advocating for comprehensive health solutions. We advocate for prioritizing effective TB prevention and treatment which can decrease the burden of serious neurological complications within the concept of “End TB”.
