77th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Group 1.1. Items 11.1 and 11.2
Statement:

FDI World Dental Federation representing over one million dentists welcomes the updates on NCDs including the baseline report of the Global Oral Health Action Plan (2023 – 2030). The report notes that only 23% of the global population can access essential oral healthcare; 31% of countries have an operational national oral health policy and 21% of countries have the necessary dental preparations in their national essential medicines lists.

Therefore, FDI urges governments to:
1. Develop or adapt national oral health plans to align with the global Oral Health Action Plan including adequate financing and its monitoring framework.
2. Ensure adequate surveillance systems for oral health reporting commitments in preparation for the UN High level meeting on NCDs in 2025.
3. Implement the best-buy interventions on oral health.
4. Attend the WHO Global Oral Health Meeting coming up in Thailand this November.
