Agenda Item:
- Item 13.9 Global strategy for Women’s, Children’s and Adolescents’ Health
Statement:

The WHO Global Strategy on “Women’s, Children’s and Adolescent’s Health” provides a road map for ending preventable deaths and improving health and well-being. To promote health and well-being the WHPCA suggests the importance of alleviating serious-health related suffering in neonates, children and adolescents through the provision of palliative care. In parallel with ending preventable deaths, it is essential that we reduce suffering and improve quality of life, as highlighted through the Global Initiative for Childhood Cancer. To do this, palliative care must be integrated throughout the health system as part of Universal Health Coverage and Primary Health Care, including for neonates, children and adolescents. It is important that Member States prioritise the development of palliative care to fulfil the Strategy’s aim of both ending preventable deaths but also improving health and well-being.
