78th WHA Individual Statements

Agenda Item:
- Item 14. Health in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development
Statement:

Honourable Chair, Distinguished Delegates,

Health a fundamental human right and the cornerstone of social justice, economic prosperity, and global security. Yet, at the midpoint of the 2030 Agenda, no health-related SDG target is on track while 4.5 billion people lack essential services. The compounded impacts of climate change, conflict, inequality, and discrimination require an intersectional and interdisciplinary response. Universal health coverage is pivotal to advancing all SDGs and promoting equity across sectors.

The World Medical Association urges Member States to uphold health financing commitments, in particular to support the health workforce, to strengthen social protection, and to meaningfully engage marginalized communities. By investing in resilient, inclusive systems and harnessing data-driven partnerships, we can ensure health for all becomes a lived reality, not an unfulfilled promise.

Thank you.
