Agenda Item:
- Group 1.1. Items 11.1 and 11.2
Statement:

Item 11.2: Prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs)

Honorable chair, distinguished delegates,

The World Medical Association strongly believes that addressing the social determinants of NCDs and investing in primary care are fundamental to achieving UHC and SDG target 3.4.

To achieve this, we recommend adopting a holistic, patient-centred approach that prioritizes the well-being and includes health promotion, NCD screening and surveillance programs into the UHC package. Urgent local, global, and intersectoral collaboration is needed to meet the 25x25 targets and further equitable remuneration of frontline health personnel who care for patients with NCDs.

Additionally, we emphasize the importance of providing comprehensive support, encompassing mental health, social, and economic assistance, to individuals affected by conflicts and humanitarian crises.

Thank you.
